# Frequently asked questions about the alarm

Below you will find answers to the questions we get most often about the alarm of your TMD Chain Lock.

###### How loud is the alarm?

The full alarm has a volume of 100 dB.

###### Can I adjust the alarm volume?

No. The alarm always sounds at the fixed volume of 100 dB.

###### Will I get a notification on my phone when the alarm goes off?

No, you won't receive a live push notification. As soon as you reconnect to the lock, you can see in the app under **"Activity"** what time the alarm went off.

###### Can I lock my bike without the alarm?

Yes. The alarm is not armed automatically when you close the lock. You arm it yourself by pressing the lock button twice, or via the app.

###### Will the alarm go off while cycling or when transporting my bike on a bike rack?

As long as your phone is connected to the lock, the alarm will not sound, even when the bike moves. So keep your phone close to the lock, for example in the car when transporting the bike on a rack. If the alarm is armed, you can also disarm it beforehand.

###### Why didn't the alarm go off when I was standing next to my bike?

The alarm is suppressed while your phone is connected to the lock. If you are standing next to the bike with your phone, the alarm will not sound.

###### How exactly does the alarm work?

When movement is detected, a short pre-alarm sounds first as a warning. If the movement continues, the full alarm follows. After 15 minutes of continuous alarm, it disarms automatically.
