Alarm behaviour
The alarm on your TMD Chain Lock is smart. It will first give a warning, it's full volume will sound. In this article you can read how the pre-alarm and full-alarm behave in detail, so you know exactly how it works.
Knowing the specifics outlined in this article is not needed to effectively use the lock. This article is just there for those who are curious how the alarm works under the hood.
How the alarm works in a nutshell
- When the lock detects movement, the pre-alarm sounds as a warning.
- If the movement stops, nothing else will happen.
- If the movement continues, the full-alarm will sound.
- The full-alarm will continue to sound until the movement stops.
Option 1: how the full alarm is triggered in detail
- Movement: pre-alarm for 2 seconds.
- Movement detected again within 3 seconds: full-alarm for 10 seconds.
- Movement detected again within 5-10 seconds of full alarm: full-alarm extended for another 10 seconds.
- The above applies to extensions of the full alarm as well.
Option 2: how the full alarm is triggered in detail
- Movement - pre-alarm for 2 seconds.
- Pre-alarm triggered 4x within 30 seconds: full-alarm for 10 seconds.
- Movement detected again within 5-10 seconds of full alarm: full-alarm extended for another 10 seconds.
- The above applies to extensions of the full alarm as well.
Cooldown period
- After each full-alarm there is a cooldown period of 30 seconds.
- If movement is detected during this cooldown period, the alarm will sound immediately and the 30 second cooldown period will start again.
Automatic alarm disarming
- If the alarm sounds for 15 minutes non stop, it will automatically disarm.
Alarm suppression
- The alarm is suppressed while your phone is connected to the lock.
- If the alarm is already sounding and you connect, the alarm is suppressed immediately.
